Side by side

How we compare with a typical agency

Team

Usarion

Senior designers and developers on your project, start to finish.

A typical agency

A senior team at the pitch, a junior one on the work.

Local fit

Usarion

Canadian consent choices, Ontario accessibility and bank-link screens drawn in at the wireframe.

A typical agency

Consent copy lifted from a US template and fixed after the audit.

AI

Usarion

AI speeds up the routine work. People make every decision.

A typical agency

Either no AI, or AI output passed on unchecked.

Ownership

Usarion

Figma files, code and design system handed over, yours to keep.

A typical agency

Files and know-how that stay with the agency.

After launch

Usarion

The same team stays on for new features and fixes.

A typical agency

A new team, or a new contract, for every change.

What we do for Toronto teams

Seven services, one senior team

Everything between an idea and a product people trust. Designed, built, launched and branded.

MVP Development

The first working version of your product: scoped, designed, built and launched in six to ten weeks. Small enough to ship fast, solid enough to build the next version on.

UI/UX Design Services

Design capacity for products that already exist. Flows, screens, states and design systems, including the unglamorous screens that decide whether anyone stays past week one.

SaaS Website Design

A SaaS site has one job: make a stranger understand the product in eight seconds and book a call in thirty. Built in Webflow or Framer so your team can edit it.

Design services that scale

From a first audit to a product that grows

01

UX audit

A review of the screens costing you the most: where sign-ups stall, where support tickets start, and what to fix first. Often the right first step before a redesign.

02

User research

Interviews and usability tests with the people who use the product, booked in UK hours, so decisions rest on evidence rather than the loudest opinion in the room.

03

UI/UX strategy

Which problems to solve first, which screens they touch and what success looks like, agreed in writing before design starts.

04

Wireframes and prototypes

Clickable flows you can put in front of users and investors in days, so the expensive decisions are tested before they are built.

05

Scaling support

A design system, documented components and a team that stays on after launch, so every new feature looks like it belongs.

Building for Toronto

What a product used across Canada has to get right.

Canada's federal privacy law counts consent as valid only when the people a business serves can be expected to understand it. Commissioners' guidance asks for the key points up front and a way to withdraw, so screens say what is taken, why and who gets it.

As of 1 January 2021, Ontario's AODA asks the public websites of public sector bodies, and of businesses and non-profits with 50 or more employees, to meet WCAG 2.0 AA, with two exceptions for live captions and audio description. Our screens are checked against WCAG 2.2 AA, which the W3C intends to cover it.

Toronto is headquarters to the country's largest financial institutions. Canada's Consumer-Driven Banking Act, given royal assent in March 2026, puts the Bank of Canada in charge of a framework for sharing financial data with accredited providers. It is meant to address screen scraping, where people give a fintech their bank credentials.

The City of Toronto describes its life sciences sector as combining research, clinical and business expertise. Ontario's Personal Health Information Protection Act asks that consent be knowledgeable and never won through deception or coercion, so notices sit where people will see them.

What we design

Products we design for Toronto teams

Industries

Sectors Toronto builds in

  • 01

    Fintech

A fintech app earns a bank link by being plain about what it sees, keeps and shares.

    • Onboarding and identity checks that keep people moving
    • Disclosures that are clear, not buried
    • Balances and risk made readable
  • 02

    Healthtech and life sciences

Clinicians, researchers and patients open a health product for different reasons, and each must find their part.

    • Flows tested with real users, not assumed
    • Accessible type, contrast and controls
    • Sensitive data handled with care in the design
  • 03

    AI products

Research labs are opening in the Toronto Region, but a model that works in a lab still needs a screen people can trust.

    • Prompt, result and edit in one clear flow
    • States for waiting, failing and being unsure
    • Controls that keep the person in charge
  • 04

    SaaS

The buyer is rarely the daily user, so the screens have to win both.

    • Onboarding that reaches value fast
    • Dense screens that stay readable
    • A design system the product can grow on
  • 05

    Film, music and digital arts

Toronto is a UNESCO Creative City of Media Arts, and studios are hired on how their own site shows their work.

    • Work shown large and fast
    • A portfolio that is easy to update
    • Enquiries with the brief built in
  • 06

    Public services

Public portals are used by people who did not choose them, on any device and with any ability.

    • Plain language for every reader
    • Accessible on any device
    • Forms that check as you go, not at the end

Why Usarion

Why Toronto teams choose us

  1. One hour that moves, twice a year

Dhaka keeps the same time all year and Toronto does not. The gap is 10 hours in daylight saving time and 11 the rest of the year, so notes you leave before you log off are answered while you are away.

  2. A round of changes in one night

Feedback you send as your day ends is waiting for us when ours starts, so a round of changes can finish overnight.

  3. Inside your tools

Your Slack, your Figma, your repository. We join the way your team already works.

  4. One team, start to finish

The people on your first call are the people who design and build it. Nothing is handed on.

  5. Design and code together

We design the screens and ship the code behind them, so nothing is lost between the two.

  6. Proven across 200+ projects

Brand, product and web work shipped across SaaS, AI, fintech, healthcare and ecommerce.

How we work

Four steps, from brief to hand-off

  1. Step 01

    Discover

    Understand before drawing.

    • We read your deck, analytics and support tickets
    • One working session on what a good outcome looks like
    • Two to three days, not two to three weeks
  2. Step 02

    Plan

    Agree the scope in writing.

    • Screens listed and sequence set
    • Price fixed before work starts
    • A plan you can hold us to
  3. Step 03

    Design

Design where you can see it.

    • Work lands in Figma as it happens
    • You comment, we iterate the same week
    • Nothing unveiled at the end
  4. Step 04

    Hand off

    Built to be picked up.

    • Named layers and real components
    • Documented tokens and a walkthrough
    • Development by the same team, if you want it

FAQs

Questions from Toronto teams

Yes, as a remote team. Dhaka is ahead of Toronto by 10 hours in daylight saving time and 11 in standard time, so the work moves while you are away.

Yes. Notices, consent choices and ways to withdraw are drawn into the flow, and no step pushes people to agree, as Canada's privacy commissioners asked in a joint resolution in November 2024. Your legal adviser signs off the wording.

Yes. Screens are checked against WCAG 2.2 AA, which the W3C intends to meet any policy naming WCAG 2.0, the level Ontario names. Your legal adviser confirms whether the AODA applies to you.

Yes: connect-your-bank, consent and disconnect screens that say who gets which data and how to stop sharing. Your compliance team confirms what the final rules require.

Yes. Notices say why information is collected and that the person can say no, and sit where people will see them. Your compliance team decides whether the Act covers your product.

Yes. Sign-up asks for consent before any commercial message, and each message names the sender and carries an unsubscribe option. Your legal adviser confirms what the law requires.

With a 30-minute call, then a written scope and a fixed price. Once the scope is signed, work starts within days, not weeks.

Each project is quoted once, from a written scope, and the price does not move unless the scope does.

Yes. We keep what works, audit what does not, and move the product forward in stages so your users are never left behind.

Yes. Front end and integrations, by the team that designed it. If you have developers we hand over instead, with a system they can build from.

Yes, and it is often the cheapest way to start. A short audit tells you which three screens are costing you the most, and whether you need a redesign or just a fix.
